DJ Ktone Annual Book Award 2023

The Kamau Martinez a.k.a. DJ Ktone Book Award is now accepting applications for its Annual Book Award.

The deadline for submissions is April 30, 2023

This award was created to financially assist African American young men and women in pursuing secondary degrees. Outstanding seniors are encouraged to apply for this award ranging from $500-$1000.00. The designated recipient may apply these funds toward expenses at an accredited institution of higher learning.

Qualified students must:

Have a grade point average (GPA) of 2.8 or above; however consideration will be given to students with lower GPAs due to mitigating circumstances.

Be a high school senior in good standing who will attend an accredited institution in the fall of 2023.

Complete the application and submit the following information:

  1. A one-page essay- A detailed essay explaining why you should be selected for this Award, how the funds would benefit your future and the significant of making an impact through your chosen field of study.
  2. Two (2) letters of recommendation - One MUST be from a teacher, administrator or employer and one MUST be from a non-relative who can speak to applicant's character.
  3. An official transcript.
